RICHARDSON BAY REGIONAL AGENCY WELCOMES TWO NEW BOARD MEMBERS
Stephen Burke and Patricia Carapiet join four-member governing body
Sausalito, CA—The Richardson Bay Regional Agency’s Board of Directors recently welcomed two new members, with Stephen Burke and Patricia Carapiet joining the four-person governing body. Burke, who represents Mill Valley, and Carapiet, who represents Belvedere, were formally sworn-in at the RBRA Board Meeting on Thursday, January 9.
“I’ve been fortunate to sit as an alternate RBRA Board member in the past, so I have a keen insight into the operations of this organization,” said Burke, who is the Mill Valley Mayor. “That experience really helped inspire me to pursue this Board membership on a full-time basis. Richardson Bay is a beloved natural resource and I’m fully aware of the special responsibility we bear on the RBRA Board. I’m looking forward to working with my board colleagues and RBRA staff to help achieve the agency’s goals.”
Burke replaces Jim Wickham as the Mill Valley representative and Carapiet replaces Jim Lynch as the Belvedere representative on the RBRA Board. Wickham and Lynch stepped down last year after opting not to run for re-election in their respective city councils.
“I’m very excited to join the RBRA Board and help further the organization’s mission,” said Carapiet, who is a member of the Belvedere City Council. “As a local resident, I understand how important it is for Richardson Bay to be safe and accessible for all members of the community. I know how vital it is to project the environment—including our eelgrass population—while ensuring that we find equitable, compassionate solutions to help individuals relocate off their vessels and into housing on land. We’ve made a lot of progress, but we still have a lot of work to do, and I’m eager to get started.”
RBRA Vice-Chair Jack Ryan and Board member Stephanie Moulton-Peters continue to serve on the Board. Ryan represents Tiburon and Moulton-Peters represents Marin County as a member of the County’s Board of Supervisors.
